The Pardon Johnny Cash Flower Pickin' Festival, a three-day event honoring Johnny Cash, kicked off Friday with a lecture that set the theme for the weekend: redemption. John Hayes of the University of Georgia's Department of History presented his dissertation "Johnny Cash: Sin and Redemption" to a small crowd of Cash fans in the Swalm Chemical Engineering Building. Mississippi residents will have the chance to vote today during the Magnolia State's statewide elections. John Arthur Eaves Jr. has taken on Gov. Haley Barbour in the governor's race. Along with the position of governor, lieutenant governor, state auditor, state treasurer, secretary of state, commissioner of agriculture and commerce, attorney general and commissioner of insurance will be elected. MSU revamps warning system
Campus, city authorities will test 'Alert' today

Mississippi State University held emergency drills Friday in an attempt to improve the university's alert system. In addition to the drills, MSU, the City of Starkville and the Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency will be testing emergency sirens today. (0) comments

More than 70 people gathered in Lee Hall Thursday night to watch the Henderson International Fest Cultural Competition, sponsored by the Mississippi State University Cyber Dawgs.
