Daybreakdown was founded in Oxford in the summer of 2003 after five musicians decided to band together to form a prominent southern rock band in Mississippi. Composed of keyboardist Eric Carlton, lead guitarist and vocalist Patrick McClary, drummer Tyler Rayburn and rhythm guitarist and vocalist Reid Stone, Daybreakdown wanted to be more than a blip on the rock radar of the South. "Point City Fest" is a four-day music festival to be held Aug. 30 through Sept. 2 to commemorate the life and accomplishments of legendary bluesman Howlin' Wolf. Mr. Wolf, or Chester Arthur Burnett, is a West Point native. The Growth Alliance of Clay County and sponsors such as 2 Brothers have arranged an impressive celebration that will benefit both the city and the late guitarist's legacy. (0) comments

The wait is over. It's now officially football season, and like all good Americans should do on game day, it's time to tailgate. Tailgating is all that is good about college football. Northerners think they invented it in the sub-zero parking lots of professional football stadiums, but we, as Southerners, know that the Southeastern Conference is the king of all football tailgating. A new restaurant in Starkville is giving patrons a chance to enjoy top-drawer food in a unique environment. Rock Bottom Bar and Grill opened on University Drive four months ago in the building that previously housed Tonic, a martini bar that closed its doors earlier this year. (0) comments
