Wall-E not a movie to love, Wanted delivers with flaws

Daily Reveille, Louisiana State University A&M, LA

This summer's first critically acclaimed film might just be about two robots falling in love.

It is the 2100s and Earth has surrendered to the mass of waste left by hordes of consuming humans. The planet is so polluted it has become a looming landscape of trashy ziggurats.

Government shouldn't have to bail you out

This week the United States Congress is debating a mortgage bailout bill that will cost this nation more than $300 billion dollars. Although the bill is receiving widespread support, I wonder if it is because it is actually a worthwhile and cost-effective bill, or because it is an expensive boondoggle that legislators will be able to bring home to show voters in the November elections.

Gay marriage.

Much has been made by now of the Bush administration's sexed-up case for invading Iraq.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the former Democratic presidential candidate from Ohio, went so far last month as to seek impeachment hearings against Bush for misleading the country into war on false pretenses.

Gov. Bobby Jindal makes right choice for wrong reason

Daily Reveille, Louisiana State University A&M, LA

6 days ago by Editorial Board

Gov. Bobby Jindal vetoed legislation Monday to more than double legislators' pay. But he did so for the wrong reason.

Jindal had until July 8 to veto the bill before it became law.

So why now? And for what reason?

Could it have something to do with the recall petition filed Friday against Jindal? Or maybe the few other petitions filed against members of the Legislature? Or could it be the recent resignation of his legislative director?

It certainly wasn't that he felt his signature stamp was getting worn out.
